Think BIG Accessories
Make a major style statement with large wall art and home accessories.

Drawing a blank on how to fill that empty wall in your home? Don’t worry because we’ve got you(r walls) covered! Consider large-scale art to fit and fill your space!
While we all love a great gallery wall, they sometimes don’t have the impact you’re looking for. However, choosing one large piece of art to incorporate can bring a ‘wow factor’ to a room without putting too many nail holes in your wall. Large pieces command attention, fill the space visually, and they can also keep the room from looking too busy and chaotic.
How to Choose Large Wall Art
Large wall decor is also an easy way to anchor the rest of your room decor. Incorporate your desired color palette in the large-scale art and choose other pieces of art, decor or furniture to match. Choose a painting or print by your favorite artist, a wall sculpture, large mirror, framed family photo or canvas wall art to decorate your wall and set the vibe in your room.
One choice for filling the empty space on your walls and showing off your artistic eye at the same time is shown by selecting a painting by a favorite artist or a newly discovered one! Custom art pieces are easy ideas for bringing visual interest into the room and allow you to show off your personality and style.
Canvas wall art is a great idea if you want something that will show your personality but without the expensive price that comes with many custom pieces. Plus, with many pieces of canvas art, you don’t have to worry about framing it because the image wraps all the way around the frame. If you can’t find an image or scene that you like, many companies will print a photo of your choice onto a canvas!
If your taste in art is constantly changing, consider something more timeless as a large wall art idea; a mirror. Mirrors are a great choice for small spaces as well because they reflect light and can make your room look bigger. If you’re worried about having to put large holes in your wall to hang a heavy mirror, think about getting a standing mirror that leans up against the wall!
If you’d like to add some texture to your walls, choose art made of materials like metal, wood, glass, fabric or even yarn! Metal wall decor really stands out in a room, adding dimension, texture and shine to your space. Macrame or fabric wall hangings are great for bohemian style rooms and are a great DIY project as well!
If you want to show the world how great your kids, spouse, pet or other family members are, blow up your favorite photo to frame and hang! Find a fun and interesting frame that matches the rest of your room decor to tie it all together, bonus points if the color scheme of the photo matches your room too! Want to switch it up a bit? Print a black and white photo, and place it in a brightly colored frame.
Wall Art Series
If buying one big painting, print or other piece seems scary, consider buying a wall art series instead! Wall art series are two to four pieces that you hang next to each other. They can either be one image broken up onto multiple canvases or they can be pieces that complement each other. Wall art series look great above couches or dining tables or in long hallways.
Hanging Large Wall Art
To make the biggest impact with your big wall decor, hang it somewhere where people will see it as soon as they enter the room. This might be above your couch, over the mantle or on the wall next to the dining room table. A hallway is a great place to hang large pieces of art as well. Consider using a two- or three-piece wall art series in the hallway to create a statement that spans the entire length of the wall.
Oftentimes people make the mistake of hanging their wall art and decor too high. A great tip when it comes to height is to measure 60 inches from the floor and to align the piece so that the image’s center sits right at that 5-foot mark. If you are on the shorter side, position the center of the piece at 57 inches. When it comes to hanging art above furniture like a sofa or table, 3 to 8 inches of space between the furniture and your art is a good rule of thumb. If you are worried about leveling your large wall art, consider a picture ledge instead! Picture ledges are simple and inexpensive ways to display your art that will insure that it is level!
