HOM Furniture Earns High Score on 2025 Wood Furniture Scorecard

Minnesota-Based Retailer Recognized for Commitment to Sustainable Wood Sourcing and Forest Protection.

COON RAPIDS, MN (December 9, 2025) – HOM Furniture is proud to announce it has earned a "high score" on the 2025 Wood Furniture Scorecard, a prestigious recognition from the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) and National Wildlife Federation (NWF). This achievement highlights HOM Furniture's ongoing commitment to sustainable wood sourcing, responsible forest management, and environmental stewardship.

Now in its eighth year, the Wood Furniture Scorecard serves as a critical benchmark for furniture retailers committed to reducing deforestation and implementing responsible forest management practices in their supply chains. The 2025 Scorecard placed increased emphasis on setting public targets and transparently reporting progress toward sustainability goals.

"We are honored to be recognized as a high scorer on the 2025 Wood Furniture Scorecard," said Carl Nyberg, President/CEO for HOM Furniture. "At HOM Furniture, our leadership team and employees believe that protecting our planet's forests is not just good business—it's the right thing to do. We've also seen how deeply our customers care about sustainability and the environmental impact of their purchasing decisions. This recognition reflects a joint dedication to sourcing wood responsibly and supporting sustainable forestry practices that will benefit future generations."

After fossil fuels, deforestation is the second-leading cause of climate change. Furniture manufacturers rank third in global wood consumption, so the industry has a critical role in safeguarding forests—vital carbon sinks and biodiversity havens.

HOM Furniture's high score reflects the company's remarkable progress in tracking and improving the sustainability of its wood sourcing. This achievement places HOM Furniture among an elite group of retailers leading the industry toward more responsible material sourcing practices.

Industry-Wide Progress in Sustainable Wood Sourcing

The 2025 Wood Furniture Scorecard reveals positive trends across the furniture retail industry, including more companies setting public goals for wood sourcing and reporting progress, increased transparency among retailers engaging with the scoring team, rising awareness of deforestation's impact on climate change leading to stronger commitments to eliminate illegally sourced wood, expanded use of third-party certifications such as Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and higher scores among retailers who actively collaborate with the Scorecard team to improve their sourcing practices over time.
