Update your entertainment center and seating for game day!

Is your home host-ready for game day? Football is well underway and that calls for game day watch parties to enjoy the big (or any big) game with friends and family. Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan or just love hosting friends, creating a cozy and comfortable entertainment space is essential. There are three key components that make up a successful game day experience: 1) entertainment space, 2) seating, and 3) snacks. Elevate your entertainment space for game day with these super design ideas.

Entertainment Space

Entertainment Center. The focal point of your entertainment space is the TV which makes picking out the right entertainment center or TV and media console to place your big screen on very important. First things first, measure your entertainment space and TV to determine the best size for your entertainment center or media console. You don’t want your media console to dwarf your TV or pick out an entertainment center that is too small for the overall space. If your entertainment space is on the smaller side, consider a small media console to maximize space. A good rule of thumb is to get a media console that is a few inches wider than your TV on either side. Even if you have a mounted TV, this is still a good rule of thumb to follow.

Accent Tables. Coffee tables and other occasional tables in various shapes and sizes can enhance your entertainment space on game day. They provide convenient spots for snacks and beverages. A nice big coffee table is a perfect spot to lay out your assortment of game day treats for guests to grab within arms reach. If your entertainment space is on the smaller end, consider a side table or other small accent table that can be positioned as needed and stored away when not in use. Behind the couch, a sofa table adds extra counter space for snacks and drinks. Stools can be added to the sofa table for additional seating options for your guests. This is also a great option for younger children that allows them to have a flat surface to lay their plate on while watching the game.

A media console can help organize your space and, of course, display your big screen for game day.

Game Day Seating

If you love to entertain, you may want to consider upgrading your living room furniture, including your seating. While the floor is an option, it is not ideal to sit on the floor from pre game to 4th quarter, or even overtime. Avoid the dreaded floor seat by upgrading your furniture with power reclining sectionals, sofas and chairs. For smaller spaces, a power reclining loveseat or chair can maximize seating options. Power reclining furniture offers both comfort and mobility at the touch of a button. If the game has become a nail biter, you can still find comfort in your power reclining seat.

A power recliner is the MVP of your home entertainment set-up.

Quick Seating Solutions

A quick seating solution can be found in a round storage ottoman. This can provide extra seating while also storing everyday items when guests are over. Another benefit of ottomans are they are portable and can be moved around to get the most optimal seating area. If your guests outnumber the seating options in your entertainment space, get creative! Floor cushions, bean bag chairs, poufs and even comfy throws can turn any spot into a cozy seat for your guests.

MVP - Snacks and Drinks

You can’t have a winning party without some food and beverage options. Here’s tips for putting together an easy and tasty party spread.

  1. Quick and Easy Classics: Keep your snacks quick and easy. You can never go wrong with classic options like chips and dip, or small handheld desserts like bars or cookies. Charcuterie boards or crock-pots filled with warm dips or wings are always fan favorites as well.

  2. Sweet and Salty Combo: The sweet and salty combo is always a staple. Pair up some of your favorite sweets like caramel popcorn, chocolate candies or cookies with something salty like pretzels, popcorn or potato chips.

  3. Beverage Essentials: Don’t forget the cooler of beverages. Place it strategically on a coffee table or sofa table to allow for quick and easy access during the game. For water, place bottled waters in the cooler or have a large beverage dispenser with cups on a side table or sofa table.

It’s time to gear up your home for game day hosting! Update your entertainment center to fit your space and match the style of your home. Utilize accent tables to keep snacks, beverages, etc within arm’s reach of your guests. Also, ensure you have enough comfortable seating for all your guests with power reclining options, ottomans, and DIY seating ideas. And of course, don’t forget to stock up on your favorite snacks and beverages to keep the energy flowing throughout the game. Catch and run with your favorite super design ideas and make your home the go-to place for unforgettable game day experiences.
